I have spent my career at the intersection of technology, policy and social change in both public and private sector roles. As a former elected member of the Michigan Senate from 2016 to 2019 served as Minority Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee and a member of Economic Development & International Investment, Energy & Technology, and Banking & Financial Services Committees.
I previously served under former Washington, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, focusing on Disadvantaged Businesses Incubation and Community Development. Later joining iCore Networks direct sales (acq. by Vonage) , participated in federal and local political campaigns, and has advised on additional late-stage startups pre IPO ( ShotSpotter ).
Following service in the Senate, I have focused on early- and growth-stage companies, leading Legislative Affairs at Eaze. At Bright ventures I strive to raise awareness on the lack of banking and finance and need to shift the ecosystem to drive opportunity and equity.
